WESTBOROUGH- Phyllis C. Ellis, 98, of Westborough, died Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at the Milford Regional Medical Center. She was the wife of the late William J. W. Ellis.
Born in Needham, MA, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Mahalah (Beals) Cahill and has lived in Westborough for 70 years. She was a graduate of Leonard Morse Hospital School of Nursing in 1934 and was the last surviving member of the Leonard Morse Hospital School of Nursing Alumnae. Phyllis worked at Leonard Morse Hospital in several capacities including Operating Room Supervisor, Night Supervisor, OB/GYN Supervisor and finished her career as Medical/Surgical Supervisor retiring in 1978. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Westborough, working hard on many church fairs and suppers using her talents as a leader and crafts person. She was also a member of Bethany Chapter #13, Order of Eastern Star. Phyllis is survived by two daughters, Merrie E. Walker and her husband, Kenneth, of Westborough and Bonnie R. Ellis of Westborough; eight grandchildren, Diana Moyer and her husband, Alan, Sandra Ng and her husband Jeff, Linda Chruney and her husband, John, Allison Hall and her husband, Steve, Page Oberg and her husband, Carl, Jamie Walker, Heidi Silva and her husband, Mike and Ian Johnson and his wife, Maureen; 14 great-grandchildren and two great, great-grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Penelope L. Ellis. She was a true matriarch and was loved and will be missed by all. Her funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 15, at 2:00 P.M. in the First United Methodist Church, 120 West Main St., Westborough. Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery will be private. There are no calling hours.
