LAWRENCE H. MAYO


WESTBOROUGH- Lawrence H. Mayo, 84, of Westborough, died on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at the Marlborough Hospital. He was the husband of 63 years to Linda E. (Travi) Mayo.

Born in Worcester, he was the son of the late Maynard and Yvonne (Roy) Mayo. During WW II he served on the USS Missouri from 1941 to 1945 and was involved in the invasion of Normandy earning medals in the European, African and Middle East Campaigns.

Mr. Mayo worked as a fashion designer for Cottage Taylor and Supreme Coat in Worcester for 44 years and for AVCOA for ten years. He was active in the Southborough and Westborough Senior Centers and was a former member of the Westborough Art Association.

Additionally he was an accomplished artist, bridge and pool player and offered transportation to many seniors across the region whenever called upon. Lawrence was blessed with the friendship of six wonderful Golden Retrievers.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two brothers, Edward G. Mayo of Auburn and James R. Mayo of Hudson and many nieces and nephews.

Services and interment will be private.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Rand-Harper-Pickering Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., Westborough.
