Marjorie M. (Foster) Heckman, 104, formerly of 116 East Main St., Westborough, died on Saturday, September 6, 2008 at the Beaumont Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center after a period of declining health. Her husband, Edwin E. Heckman died in 1967.
She leaves a son, Edwin A. Heckman and his wife, Ann, of Bayonet Point, Florida; a daughter, Nancy Uhlman and her husband, Parker, of Westborough. She also leaves five grandchildren, Beth Weiser of Westminster, Keith Heckman of Plymouth, MA, Dennis Uhlman, Douglas Uhlman and Brenda Malone of Westborough; seven great grandchildren, Matthew Heckman, Dierdre Hubbs, Dennis Uhlman, Jr., Benjamin and Matthew Malone and Julianne and Jacob Uhlman. Marjorie also leaves a dear friend, Margaret Brockett of Perkinsville, VT. Marjorie was born in Fort Covington, NY and was raised and educated in Stowe, VT. She began her teaching career in Barre, VT and then moved to Westborough in 1931 at the time of her marriage. Marjorie was an active member of the Evangelical Congregational Church for many years. She served as a deacon and superintendent of the Primary Sunday School. She was also formerly active in the Order of the Eastern Star, the Pro Christo Church group and the Order of the Rebecca's. In later years she was very active in the Busy Monday Group at the Senior Center and served as treasurer. She enjoyed helping others, traveling and spending time with her family. A graveside funeral service will be held on Monday, September 15, at 10:00 A.M. in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Westborough. Calling hours at the Rand-Harper-Pickering Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., Westborough, are Sunday, September 14, from 5 to 7 P.M.
