C. James Ingamells Obituary

C. James Ingamells, 90, of Shrewsbury, MA, formerly of Fulton, NY, passed away on Sunday, May 6th.  Born in Fulton to Alison and Clyde Ingamells, his family owned Ingamells Dairy and his father was a former alderman and mayor of Fulton. Jim attended Fulton schools graduating from Fulton High School in 1945, and received a bachelor’s degree from Babson Institute (College) in 1950. He served in the U.S. Navy on board the USS IOWA BB-61 as a crew member. 

Jim’s extensive banking career began with Oswego County National Bank later acquired by Marine Midland Bank then HSBC. He served as vice president of data processing and operations in New York City, Syracuse and Buffalo. In addition, he worked in London and then in Hong Kong for three years as an international banker prior to his retirement. Active in the Fulton community, he was a communicant of Holy Trinity Parish and a member of the Historical Society of Fulton. Jim managed Fulton Home Health Care and served as a board member for A.L. Lee Memorial Hospital. He enjoyed piloting his Cherokee Piper airplane, golfing, gardening, wood working, and sailing.

Jim was married to his high school sweetheart for 49 years, Jean Carroll who pre-deceased him in 2003.

Surviving are his daughter and caregiver, Mary C. Ingamells of Westborough MA; friend and caregiver, Alan S. Drohan, Esq. of Fulton, NY; cousin, Norma Burleigh of Fulton, NY; niece, Debra Carroll Snell (John) of Baldwinsville, NY; and nephew Patrick Carroll of Acworth, GA. 

Calling hours are from 4 to 6 p.m. on Monday, May 14th at Foster Funeral Home, Inc., 910 Fay Street, Fulton, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 15th at Holy Trinity Parish, corner of Rochester and South Third Streets, Fulton, NY.  Burial will be private. 

A special thank you goes to the staff at Southgate Retirement Community-Hampton Suites for their compassion and care, making Jim feel at home. The Hematology/Oncology team at UMass Cancer Center of Excellence who provided compassion, laughter and excellent care during his courageous battle and the wonderful Rose Monahan Hospice staff who comforted him during his final journey.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to UMass Cancer Center of Excellence specifically Leukemia/Lymphoma in his memory checks payable to UMMF UMass Medicine Office of Advancement, 333 South Street, Shrewsbury, MA 01545 or to Holy Trinity Parish, 309 Buffalo Street, Fulton NY 13069.
