took lessons with Phil when his studio was across from the old Worcester post office. i was in my thirties, never had played drums before and after lesson never really practiced. just loved going there and talking with Phil and seeing him do stuff on kit,one of the nicest guys i ever met.

I am so sorry to hear of Mr. Salah's passing.  He was one of my first drum teachers and the first to get me to not be afraid to learn how to read music.  Although the last time I saw him was on tour in Worcester in 09, I always exchanged Christmas cards and usually talked at least once a year on the phone with him.  Twenty years after I graduated from High School, he still insisted on paying for lunch at that Chinese Joint across from Union Music.  It was reminiscent of the times when I didn't have the $8 for an hour lesson and he would take $5 or sometimes a "rain check."  I hope that when he got to heaven he was given a set of shiny new drums and an endless supply of kids who practice.  You will be missed!  Love, Julie Angelis Boehler, Principal Timpanist of The U.S. Army Band "Washington, DC

We will truly miss Phil and Shirley.  We corresponded with them at Christmas, and cherish the love and warmth we felt with them.  Heaven must be a warmer place to be today.  Thanks for the legacy that you left.

Please accept my deepest condolences. Phil was my first drum teacher.
My dad Tony Agbay inspired me when I was just 5-years old. He knew that
Phil would be the great teacher to put me on the path in my studies and pursuit to be a professional drummer. I have him to thank for what I do. I continue and will continue to play and teach. His passion for his students I experienced first hand.

He will be missed greatly! But his legacy will live!
Thank you Phil for your contribution to so many of us drummers.

May the Lord grant you all peace through this difficult time.
With Love,

Michael Agbay
