WESTBOROUGH-Alvin C. “Joe” Joslyn, Jr., 83, of Westborough, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 4, 2012 at home surrounded by his loving wife, his family and his special nurse “Leigh”.  

He was the husband of Bernice A (Rose) Joslyn. Born in Greenfield, MA, and the son of the late Alvin and Hazel (Stevens) Joslyn .  Joe was a graduate of Greenfield High School. During the Korean conflict he served with the United States Marine Corps attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant.  Mr. Joslyn was a Manufactures agent and owner of the Joslyn Brothers, Joslyn & Hynes, and Joslyn & Sons Companies.

Joe’s achievements include: The Master Salesman Award and Grand Cross of Color.
He was a life member of the Northwood-Ancient Craft Lodge #551 in Royal Oak, Michigan and has been a resident of Westborough for 50 years.  Joe was a friend of Bill W. and a 34 year member of the Barber Shop Group of Hopkinton, MA.  Joe was an avid outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking and camping with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, his four children, Melvin Joslyn and his wife, Nancy, of Alfred, Maine,  Kenneth Joslyn and his wife, Laura of Shrewsbury, Alvin Joslyn, III and his wife, Brenda of Chicopee and Patricia Sanchioni and her partner, Roger Rouleau of Newbury, VT; nine grandchildren, Keith, Kilee, Doug, John, Mark, Casey, Timothy, Daniel and Holly; four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his brother Myron “John” Joslyn.

His funeral service will be held on Monday, October 8, at 1:00 P.M. in the Sunderland Congregational Church, 91 South Main St., Sunderland, MA

Burial, with military honors, will follow in the North Sunderland Cemetery.

Calling hours are at the Rand-Harper-Pickering Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., Westborough, on Sunday, October 7, from 2 to 5 pm
