WESTBOROUGH- Barbara A. O’Neil–Bush, 82, of Westborough, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 27, 2013, surrounded by members of her large and loving family. She was the devoted wife of both the late Francis G. Bush who passed away in 2007 and Paul J. O’Neil who passed away in 1995.

Born in Wollaston, MA, she was much-loved the daughter of the late John L. and Alice M. (Hartigan) Dwyer. She was educated at St. Gregory Parochial School and graduated from St. Gregory High School. Early in her career, Barbara worked at the Westborough State Hospital, but her true calling was raising a large, happy family, and serving her Westborough community.

Barbara was a communicant of St. Luke the Evangelist Church, a member of the Women of St. Luke and St. Luke’s Senior Adults. She was also a member of the Westborough Women’s Club, volunteered at the Senior Center and Food Pantry and was a supporter of Abbey’s House in Worcester. She also enjoyed playing Bridge, travelling and spending time with her family and many friends.

Barbara is survived by twelve children, Debora O’Regan of Westborough, Brenda M. Elling of West Stockbridge, John O’Neil of Housatonic, Mary Crowley of Wayland, Joanne Lafferty of Portland, Maine, Matthew O’Neil of Millbury, Peggy Bush-Morse of Swampscott, Michael Bush of Mount Desert, Maine, David Bush of Columbus, Ohio, Mary Ellen Thoma of Yarmouth, Maine, Barbie Bush of Grafton and Susie Bush of Westborough. She cherished her 21 grandchildren, three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  She was beloved the sister of the late John L. Dwyer.

Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, February 2 at 10:00 A.M. in St. Luke the Evangelist Church, 70 West Main St., Westborough. Burial in St. Luke’s Cemetery will be private.

Calling hours at the Britton-Summers Funeral Home, 4 Church St., Westborough, are Friday, February 1, from 4 to 8 P.M.

We are in Florida for the winter and sad to hear about Barbara. However we also remember her visit to Florida in 2007 with Francis when there was much joy and I played several rounds of golf with Francis and Mr Wood. I also remember the many times Mr O'Neil helped me in the Store for over 30 years. Our Prayers and Love are with the family and friends at this time.

Dear Matt, Debbie and family,

Jay and I are so sorry to hear about the loss of Barbara. We looked to her for news and updates on her remarkable family, and it was because of her and her love of ALL her family that we were able to maintain that connection in spite of being on different coasts.

Jim and I have wonderful memories of our visit to Wooster after our wedding when Barbara and her family welcomed us with open arms and treated us to that great Massachusetts/O'Neil-Bush hospitality.

We grieve with you at this time of loss. Barbara will remain bright in our memories and in our hearts.

With love,
Suzanne and Jim Mills-Winkler
