George DeVries

George DeVries, 90, of Westborough, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 31, 2022 at Marlborough Hospital. He was the husband of Nancy A. (Dufries) DeVries to whom he was married for 66 years.

Born in Northbridge, he was the son of the late Andrew and Wilhelmina (DeBoer) DeVries. He was a graduate of Uxbridge High School and a 1960 graduate of WPI.  During the Korean Conflict he served with the United States Army in the US and France. 

George was a Registered Professional Engineer for many years. He was employed by The Foxboro Company for 28 years retiring in 1988.

George was an avid gardener and was very proud of the vegetables he grew in his back yard.  He also enjoyed spending time at and fishing on the Cape Cod Canal with his grandkids.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, David D. DeVries and his wife, Deborah (Campbell), of Northborough and Steven W. DeVries of Westborough; his twin sister, Catherine Teeter of Virginia; brother-in-law, Ronald Dufries of Westborough and two grandchildren, Krisanne DeVries and Jon DeVries.

His funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 9, at 11:00 A.M. in the Pickering & Son Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., Westborough. Burial, with Military Honors, will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Whitinsville.

Calling hours will be 9:30 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. prior to the service.
