Ilda Engle Obituary

Ilda Ruiz Engle, born April 5, 1950, in San Antonio, Texas, peacefully departed this life on Easter Sunday morning, March 31, 2024, at Beaumont Nursing Center in Westborough, Massachusetts after bravely battling Parkinson’s disease and vascular dementia.

Ilda and her husband James shared a special, loving relationship, even before their marriage on 5.6.78. Rarely apart, they brought much joy and love to each other and to their family. Ilda was a wonderful mother to her two daughters, Elena Moskal and Alisia Engle, and son (in-law) Jakub Moskal. Ilda had a special relationship with her grandsons Mateusz, Sebastian, and Maciej Moskal- who all brought so much joy to her life and to our family. They so dearly loved their Abuela.

Ilda shared that loving, special sibling bond with her sisters Elva Ruiz, Dee Holcombe, and brother Gilbert and his wife, Linda Ruiz, Ilda’s sister-in-law.

Her passion for history and art led her to frequent visits to museums, attending plays, musicals, and enjoying movies with her family. She was deeply involved in her church community and found joy in volunteering her time and talents to help others, both at the Congregational Church of Westborough and, prior to moving here, the First Baptist Church of Schenectady.

Ilda's gentle and compassionate demeanor endeared her to numerous individuals, whether they were acquaintances, caregivers, medical professionals, or strangers she encountered.

Ilda was a graduate of George Washington University, and dedicated her career to serving others as a case manager for the Social Security Administration for over 30 years.

A memorial service to celebrate Ilda's life will be held on Saturday, May 4th, at 11:00 AM at the Congregational Church of Westborough.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Salmon Hospice, 37 Birch St, Milford, MA 01757 to honor the compassionate care and guidance Ilda, and her family, received from the Hospice caregivers and to also help make the future journeys of others more bearable. Hospice is a godsend.

Ilda will be remembered for her kindness, grace, and unwavering love for her family and community. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth and compassion that will be cherished by all who knew her. A life well lived. May she rest in eternal peace.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
