Peter L. Messina

Peter Louis Messina, 39, passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2022. He was born in San Francisco, CA and was the son of Louis and Katie (Ragland) Messina of Westborough. He was raised in Ann Arbor, MI and graduated from Marin Catholic High School in Kentfield, CA. He also attended the University of California Santa Cruz and the University of Massachusetts Boston. Peter then worked as a mental health peer counselor.

In addition to his parents, Peter is survived by two sisters, Julia Messina and her husband, Sam Murphy, and their daughter, Ruby Murphy of Apex, NC, and Katharine Messina Ticas and her husband, Alex, and their children, Alex and Louis Ticas of Merrick, NY.

As a lefty, Peter was an exceptional athlete including being a member of the Olympic Development Program for soccer in CA. He always had a creative imagination whether it be through writing, reading of fantasy and science fiction novels, appreciating his mother’s artwork, or watching science fiction and action movies. Peter also enjoyed spending time with his family’s golden retrievers.

Most importantly, Peter cherished time with his family including cooking dinners and celebrating life events. Peter had an amazing ability to put others at ease with his kind demeanor and compassionate listening, always finding positivity in interactions with others.

Peter’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, September 15 at 10:30 A.M. in St. Luke the Evangelist Church on 70 W. Main St., Westborough. Burial will follow in St. Luke’s Cemetery.

Calling hours at the Pickering & Son Westborough Funeral Home, 62 W. Main St., Westborough, are on Wednesday, September 14 from 4 to 7 P.M.
