Alyssa Bloom, 39, of Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 3, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on September 15, 1983, in South Korea, she was adopted at the age of two by Ernest and Deborah Ziegler in Elmont, New York. Alyssa excelled in school and attended SUNY Albany after receiving a full academic scholarship. Later, she received her Juris Doctor from Northeastern University School of Law, achieving extraordinary accolades from the faculty during her tenure.
Alyssa truly loved helping others. She became an attorney in order to advocate for the disenfranchised. She worked for Ropes and Gray in their Boston and New York offices, and then in their Hong Kong office. She worked for Thomson Reuters for a short while in New Zealand, and then with her father-in-law at the Law Offices of William R. Bloom in Westborough, MA. At each job in the United States, Hong Kong, and New Zealand, Alyssa consistently impressed her colleagues and clients with her brilliance, organization, and dedication.
In 2006, Alyssa met Barry Bloom at Northeastern University School of Law. It was at this time that they developed a lasting relationship. Together, Alyssa and Barry had one child, Andrew (5). Alyssa's son became her legacy and she loved him more than anything.
Alyssa will be remembered fondly for her kindness, intelligence, and strength. She loved social events, especially when food, and maybe a martini or two, were involved. Alyssa's quick wit was sure to put a smile on others' faces. She will be deeply missed by all who have had the pleasure to know and love her.
Alyssa is survived by her husband, Barry Bloom; her son, Andrew; her sister and brother-in-law, Amanda Ziegler and Tommy Conger, and their three children; her in-laws, Karen and Bill Bloom; her sister-in-law, Jacey Greece, her husband, Eric, and their three children.
Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 7, at 11:00 A.M. in the First United Methodist Church, 120 West main St., Westborough.
A calling hour will precede the service from 10 to 11 A.M. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Dana Farber, the Rose Monahan Hospice House, and/or Westborough Connects.
