Ann Martin

August 16, 1930 — April 25, 2025

WESTBOROUGH

Ann Martin, 94, formerly of North Grafton and Westborough, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 25, 2025. She was the wife of the late John F. Martin.

Born in Cleveland, OH, Ann was the daughter of the late Edward and Mary (Garvey) Moran and the sister of the late James Moran and Eileen Bialek. She was educated in Cleveland and graduated from St. Stephen’s High School in 1948. She married John F. Martin in 1957, with whom she spent 60 beautiful years.

In the 1950’s Ann was employed at North American Coal Corporation in Cleveland. She returned to the workplace in the 1980’s as an Executive Secretary at Data General, in Westborough, before her retirement. She was a communicant of St. Luke the Evangelist Church, a member of The Women of St. Luke’s and The Westborough Women’s Club. She also taught CCD classes at St. Luke’s Parish.

Ann felt her greatest achievement was her five children. She is survived by Therese Melden and her husband, Kurt, of Manchester by the Sea, MA, James Martin and his wife, Jean Hunter, of New Haven, CT, Marie McDonald and her husband, Peter, of Sutton, MA, John Martin and his wife, Lisa, of Sutton and Angela Martin and her husband, Darrell DeTour, of Lebanon, ME. She loved and was devoted to her four grandchildren, Emily Melden and her husband, Samoel Suarez, Anne Melden and her partner, Graham Cooke, Travis Martin and Erin Martin.

Proud of her Irish heritage, Ann became an Irish citizen in 2024. She loved traveling and planned many family vacations in the US and international trips with her husband and friends. She enjoyed sewing and needlework and had an artistic eye. She was loving, laughed easily and maintained her sense of humor to the end. She cherished all animals, great and small, and could often be found cuddling with family dogs and inquiring about family pets. She had a huge heart, a loving soul, and never took herself too seriously. Magnetic in personality, effusive in love, and joyful in her connections with others, she was often surrounded by friends and family. “It feels so good to hug you!” was one of her favorite sayings. She had a gift for decorating at Christmas, making a trifle cake, filling the room with laughter, and appreciating everyone around her. She will be missed.

Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, May 5, 10:30 A.M. at St. Luke the Evangelist Church, 70 West Main St., Westborough. Burial will follow at St. Luke’s Cemetery. There are no calling hours.

Ann’s family wishes to extend their deepest thanks to these angels: her caregiver, Kim Erb, to Hospice/Care Dimensions of Danvers, MA and to the Eucharistic Ministers of Sacred Heart Church in Manchester by the Sea.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or at stjude.org AND to Operation Smile, 3641 Faculty Boulevard, Virginia Beach, VA 23453 or at operationsmile.org
