Edward W. Sullivan

Edward W. Sullivan, 84, of Westborough, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 20, 2026, at home. He was the husband of Helene (Kenney) Sullivan.

Born in Woonsocket, RI, he was the son of the late Edward and Margaret (Collins) Sullivan. He was raised and educated in Millville and graduated from St. Mary’s High School (Milford), class of 1959.

A lifelong educator, Ed began his career as a teacher at the Gibbons Middle School in Westborough, eventually retiring as Assistant Principal.

Some of Ed’s greatest friendships came from his participation in the Worcester County Model “A” Club (WCMAC), where he was a devoted member for 30 years, 19 of which he served as secretary. He was also a longtime member of the National Model Railroad Association (NMRA).

Ed loved to learn and travel, driving across the country with his wife, children, and eventually grandchildren. Some of his favorite memories were traveling with his family, as close as Galilee, Rhode Island and as far as the West Coast, enjoying every museum along the way. There was never a train, air, or car show that he wouldn’t stop for. In his free time, he was an avid woodworker, always working on two or twenty projects in the barn at a time. His most fulfilling project was working on the camp in China, Maine.

In addition to his wife of 61 years, he is survived by two brothers, Thomas and his wife Linda Sullivan of Franklin, and Paul and his wife Mary Lou of Hudson, as well as four children, Maureen A. Mann and her husband, Michael, of Gardner, Edward W. Sullivan and his wife, Susan, of Wisconsin, Daniel M. Sullivan and his wife, Miguelina, of Belchertown and Erin M. Paolini and her husband, Jason, of Ashland. He is also survived by eight grandchildren: Julia, Jadon, Meredith, Edward “Liam”, and Julia Sullivan, Nicholas Paolini and his wife Madison, Cassandra, and Hailey Paolini.

His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, September 28, at 10:30 A.M. in St. Luke the Evangelist Church, 70 West Main St., Westborough. Burial will follow in St. Luke’s Cemetery.
