Eleanor V. ‘Elly’ Bigwood, 94 of Westborough – formerly of Eastham and Auburn – passed away peacefully at home on Friday, May 15, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Groton, Connecticut, Eleanor was the beloved daughter of Reuben and Theresa (Johnson) Lewis.
She is predeceased by her husbands Ernest Bigwood and Albert Convery; her siblings John Lewis and Marion Benoit; and her parents.
Elly had a deep love for her church, nature, animals, and the beauty of Cape Cod. She especially enjoyed hiking and spending time outdoors. Known for her fun-loving spirit, Eleanor found joy in the simple pleasures of everyday life and brought warmth and kindness to all who knew her.
She is survived by her brother Henry Lewis of Brimfield MA, her children – Donald Bigwood and his partner David of Mendon, Donna Stanish and her husband Peter of Guilford, CT, Paul Bigwood and his husband Paul of Shrewsbury, Paula Bigwood and her husband David of Shrewsbury, Peter Bigwood and his wife Kristin of Westborough – and many grandchildren, great grand-children, nieces, nephews as well as her step-children Albert, David, Carol, and their families.
A celebration of Eleanor’s life will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 183 West Main Street, Westborough, MA, on Saturday, May 23, 2026 at 1:00 P.M.
Burial at Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton, will take place privately with her family at a later date.
Donations in Eleanor’s memory may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church where she was a devoted and longtime member.
