Obituary

Listen to Obituary

Virginia R. “Ginny” (Hunter) Bullen, 90, of Westborough MA, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Friday October 16, 2026 at Roger Williams Medical Center Providence, RI. She was predeceased by her husband Theodore F. “Ted” Bullen. They were married for nearly 67 years.

Born in Westborough MA she was the daughter of the late Richard and Ruth (Forbush) Hunter. She was raised and educated in Westborough and was a 1953 graduate of Westborough High School.

Ginny was employed for over 35 years at New England Electric.

Ginny was an avid puzzle and game player. Daily while sipping her coffee she would do the crossword puzzle and the sudoku in the local papers, almost always able to master them. She loved to read, listen to music, and play board games with her family. She particularly loved to play the card game “bridge” and was a member of the ladies bridge club. She loved to prepare a delicious meal from her large collection of recipes. She truly enjoyed a gin and tonic especially when Ted made it. Often her and Ted would get together with their hilarious friends from Westborough, some dating back to high school, nicknamed the Mad Hatters. They all knew how to have a good time and created a lifetime of happy memories.

After retiring she spent time between her home in Brewster, Cape Cod where she loved the beach, shopping at local markets, and having family visits or at her home in Estero, FL where she enjoyed playing golf with Ted and socializing with their friends. She was a devoted wife and a wonderful loving mother, always a classy lady, happy to entertain family and friends, or travel abroad with Ted.

She is survived by three children, Theodore J. “Tod” Bullen and his wife Alice Blaquiere of Webster, Scott D. Bullen and his wife Lorraine Bullen of Ashburnham, and Susan E. Rich and her husband John Rich of Pomfret Center, CT; one brother, Richard S. “Steve” Hunter and his wife Michele Stranger-Hunter of Sherwood, OR; five grandchildren, Ryan Bullen, Douglas Bullen, Dennis Bullen, Kristine Rich, and Matthew Rich; five great-grandchildren, Cameron Bullen, Kyleigh Bullen, Ethan Bullen, Brianna Rich, and James Rich; several nieces and nephews including Nicole Hunter-Brown and Jeffrey Hunter.

In her honor on Thursday, October 22 there will be a calling hour at 10:00 A.M. followed by a service at 11:00 A.M. at the Pickering & Son Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., Westborough, MA. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Rd., Waltham, MA 02452.
