Hedwig E. Lagemann

Hedwig E. Lagemann (Hattie), Born Aug 15, 1923, she died on June 11th, 2026, and was 102 years old. Her husband Harold predeceased her.

She is survived by her Son-In-Law Paul L. George, her grandsons Christopher P. George who lived with her at 19 Robin Road, Westborough MA, and David M. George and his wife Paige George who lives in Jacksonville Florida, Her twin Great Grandsons Nicholas C. George and Mathew P. George and their mother Christine George who live in Sturbridge MA. Her Children Lenard Lagemann and Dorothy M. George predeceased 15 and 8 years ago respectively.

Hattie had a full life, born in the Bronx NY where she was married to Harold and gave birth to her children Lenny and Dotty. She was a WWII Veterans widow and worked for many years as a Monetary Proofreader for American Bank Note Inc. who printed money, bonds and stock certificates for foreign counties. Hattie and Harold were members of the Bronxonia Yacht Club where they had a 28’ Cabin Cruiser. They had many years of pleasure with that boat. In 1976 Hattie and Harold moved to Titusville, FL (The Home of NASA) where he bought a Beer and Wine bar and ran it several years. Hattie and Harold joined the Elks Lodge and the Does a woman’s auxiliary of the lodge, where they had a great time with their friends. Hattie worked as a volunteer for the “Does” (a woman’s Auxiliary of the Elks Lodge), and as a “PINK Lady” at a local hospital. She made many lasting friendships.

Harold Passed away in 1989 at 65, Hatie lived on her own still involved with the Elks & Does she continued with her volunteer work until 2009 when she sold her Florida home and moved to Westborough to be with her daughter. She was a welcome addition to the family and was present when both her grandchildren Christopher and David were married. Dotty and Hattie traveled extensively throughout new England and made multiple trips back to Florida until Dotty’s death in 2018. Hattie enjoyed card games, game shows, cowboy movies and crime shows. She loved Blue Bloods and Tom Selleck.

She was very interested in the Space Program and watched many launches in real-time while living in Titusville, which is just across the river from the shuttle launch pad. She was very interested in the Astronauts and especially in the Artimis II mission. Although she was nearly 103 years old, she was mentally the same woman she always was.

Hattie enjoyed life and made many friends while maintaining her friendship with her friends in Florida. Hattie passed gently away in the UMASS Memorial Hospital emergency room in the arms of her loving son-in-law, after a brief illness.

She will be missed.
