James G. Neil

James G. Neil, 90, of Westborough, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 14, 2026.

Born in 1936 in Quapaw, Oklahoma, following his family's move to Southern California, he graduated from Santa Barbara High School, where he met his spouse of 67 years, Marilyn. 

Following a stint in the US Navy during the Korean war, he worked for many years at the San Jose Mercury News as a press operator. 

Called to the mission field, Jim first ran the church printing press in Bukavu, DR Congo (then Zaire) before completing his degree in Biblical studies. He then spent many years as a church planter in eastern DR Congo. 

Upon retiring from the mission field, he served as hospital chaplain for Los Gatos (CA) Community Hospital before his full retirement and move, together with Marilyn, to Westborough, MA to live near his son and daughter-in-law. 

Predeceased by Marilyn, he leaves his son, Mark (Amy) Neil, of Westborough and daughter, Marcia (Shawn) Cady of Bremerton, WA, as well as 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

His burial will take place privately in Pine Grove Cemetery, Westborough.
