Jean S. Young

Jean S. Young, 84, of Sturbridge, passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at the Quaboag Rehabilitation & Skilled Care Center in West Brookfield. She was the wife of Donald A. Young.

Born in Weymouth, MA, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Helen (Crawford) Smith. She was raised and educated in Framingham and Westborough and was a graduate of Westborough High School. She also attended Willimantic State College.

Jean was employed as a bill collector for collection agencies and was more recently employed at Williams Communication.

Jean was an accomplished knitter. She enjoyed playing Scrabble, Bingo, and Mahjong, and was a country music lover. Jean particularly loved spending time at Justamere Camp on Lake Mashapaug in CT.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Nein Josey of Webster, a son, Clayton Joubert and his significant other, Karen Cournoyer, of Cocoa Beach, FL, one stepdaughter, Cheryl Dion and her husband, Wayne, of Sutton, a brother, Dana Smith of Auburn, a sister, Derry Winch and her significant other, Rick Walker, of Harwich, four grandchildren, Robert, Steven, Nathan and Kyle, two great-grandchildren, Julian and Charlotte, and two step-grandchildren, Evelyn and Jacob, and one step-great-grandson, Dawson.

A graveside service for immediate family will be held in Maplewood Cemetery, Upton.
