WESTBOROUGH

Listen to Obituary

Judith (Judy) A. Hall of Westborough passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on July 9, 2026 after a long illness. She was the devoted wife of David N. Hall, her college sweetheart, with whom she shared 62 years of love and adventures together.

Born in Boston, Judy was the daughter of the late Patrick and Anna (Rush) Ryan and sister of the late Patrick J. Ryan and M. James Ryan. She was raised in West Roxbury and graduated from Girls’ Latin School in Boston. She attended UMass Amherst earning a degree in Early Education, where she met the love of her life, Dave. After graduation and newly married, they moved to their first home that would become their forever home. Judy cherished her neighborhood as her extended family.

She continued her education, earning a Masters in Education from Worcester State University. Judy was a talented and beloved elementary teacher, serving 24 years in the Westborough Public School System. She went on to become a team leader, math curriculum coordinator, curriculum developer and adjunct faculty member at various local colleges, and completed her professional career as a regional mentor and coach for a new hands-on math program. Judy took great pride in inspiring a love of learning in her students and in every educator she had the privilege of mentoring and working alongside. It was in this amazing career that she also formed lifelong friendships with many of her colleagues.

Judy’s passion in life was serving others. She was an active member of St. Luke the Evangelist Church and Westborough Women’s Club. Working alongside a dear friend, Judy founded a local chapter of Sewing for Hope, an organization that made dresses, shorts, sweaters and dolls for orphaned children in Tanzania. She cooked and delivered meals to community members in need and was always looking for ways to use her many talents to help others.

Judy found great joy in bringing people together. She loved to dance and sing, and organize family and friend gatherings. She encouraged the dreams of her children and grandchildren, whether academic, career, artistic or sports. She could always be found cheering from the theatres and bleachers of their performances and sports games. Judy and Dave traveled the world together and every stranger they met along the way soon became her next friend. She seemed to know where every ice cream store or stand was, regardless of what state she was in, and she loved a warm blueberry pie with vanilla ice cream.

In addition to her beloved husband, she is survived by three daughters: Julie A. Belbin and her husband, Edward of Shrewsbury, MA; Maureen E. Gatti and her husband, John; and Susan E. Walsh and her husband, Sean of Saco, ME; four grandsons, David and his wife, Catherine, Peter, Michael and Tom; four granddaughters, Megan, Emma, Kaitlyn, and Riley, and one great-granddaughter, Maela.

Judy lived an exemplary life and she will be dearly missed by her family and countless friends.
