Linda A. Wilkins, 81, died peacefully at home on March 14, 2026. In the days prior to her passing, she was surrounded by dear family and friends, a testament to a life that was well lived and loved. She was born on October 31, 1944 in Dorchester to Arthur T. Ruell and Anne (Gillis) Ruell. She was raised in Dorchester and then Braintree.
Lynn graduated from Archbishop Williams High School, excelling academically and was a star cheerleader. She earned a Bachelor's degree in education from Bridgewater State College and went on to teach 4th grade in the Avon public school system and then at Fales Elementary School in Westborough. On August 23, 1969, Lynn married Jay Wilkins and began a life together in Westborough where they raised four daughters.
Lynn was predeceased by her beloved husband of 55 years, Jay Wilkins. She leaves her daughters Elaine Guagnini and husband Brian of Shrewsbury, Suzanne Wilkins of Worcester, Kathy Schnair and husband Michael of Natick, and Melinda Whitaker and husband John of North Kingstown, RI; her adored grandchildren Emma and Kate Guagnini; James, Hannah, and Ryan Schnair; and Juniper and Nula Whitaker. She is survived by her brother Bud Ruell (Janet) and sister Elaine Fleming (Michael), sister-in-law Ginny Donovan (Paul) and Ann Carroll (Tom), many nieces and nephews, and friends that were considered family.
While her children were young, Lynn was a devoted Girl Scout leader to all 4 daughters! She led many GS adventures with gusto including hikes, camping trips, and of course stage performances. Lynn later returned to teaching as a favorite substitute teacher in the Westborough Public School system, always ready to share books and songs with the children. She was a longtime member of the Westborough Community Chorus. Lynn shined on stage. She loved family time, anything from a big trip with Jay, time in Maine with family and friends, to a backyard cook out; it was all treasured. In keeping with her cheer roots, she loved cheering on her grandchildren in all aspects of their lives; sporting events, music performances, dance recitals, and academic achievements. She was so incredibly proud of all of them.
Lynn's family would like to thank Care Central VNA for their kind and compassionate care.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, March 26, at 10:30 A.M. at St. Luke the Evangelist Church, 70 West Main St., Westborough. Burial will follow at St. Luke's Cemetery.
Calling hours are Wednesday, March 25, from 4 to 7 P.M. at the Pickering & Son Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., Westborough.
