Mary Ann Cook, 83, of Westborough, Massachusetts, and Marco Island, Florida, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2025, surrounded by her family.
Born June 1, 1942, in Swampscott, Massachusetts, Mary Ann was the daughter of Walter and Eleanor (Reardon) Boyden. She graduated from Swampscott High School in 1960, where she played field hockey and basketball. After graduation, she worked at Massachusetts Electric Company.
Mary Ann married her husband, Howard, in 1966, and built a life rooted in love, family, and friendship. A master homemaker who loved to cook delicious meals for her family, Mary Ann hosted epic holiday feasts, showcasing her culinary talent. Renowned for her blueberry pies and chocolate chip cookies, nobody left her home hungry. An expert in sarcastic wit, her home was a place of laughter, generosity, and hospitality, where friends and family alike felt special.
A lifelong sports enthusiast and diehard Boston sports fan, Mary Ann loved cheering for her teams. While the Red Sox and Patriots were her favorites, she also enjoyed watching college football and basketball. Mary Ann’s passions extended to travel, as she and Howard explored the world with cherished friends, creating memories to last a lifetime. At her home in Marco Island, she loved spending time at the beach, and golfing. She belonged to the Hammock Bay Country Club and The Classics Country Club. During summers in Westborough, she enjoyed playing and lunching with ‘The 9-Holers’ in the Ladies Golf League at Westborough Country Club.
Mary Ann’s greatest joy in life was her grandchildren who lovingly called her Mimi. She delighted in their endeavors, spending countless hours cheering at softball, football, baseball, and soccer games, dance recitals, and track meets, admiring artwork, and beaming with pride over their accomplishments.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, Howard Cook; daughter Patti Bruno (Paul Beaulieu) and her children Sofia, Olivia, and Joshua; son Stephen (Allen) Cook M.D. and his children Leo and Archie; extended family, and many dear friends who were touched by her warmth and generosity.
