Maureen Gallagher Ferrara, of Hudson, formerly of Framingham, passed away peacefully at home Monday August 17th. She was the loving wife of Richard E. Ferrara, with whom she shared 64 years of marriage.
Proud of her Scottish roots, Maureen was born in Glasgow, Scotland, the daughter of the late John and Jean (Clarke) Gallagher. She was raised and educated in Scotland before coming to the United States in 1960, where she initially worked as a nanny.
In later years, Maureen was an administrative assistant for Bytex in Southborough until her retirement.
Maureen’s greatest joy was spending time with her family. She was also an avid gardener and took great pleasure in tending to her flowers.
In addition to her husband, Richard, she is survived by her four children: Denise Ferrara of South Carolina; Lynn Chute and her husband, Bruce, of Northborough; Diane Ferrara Cappuccio of Westborough; and Gary Ferrara of Clinton. She is also survived by her brother, Thomas Gallagher of South Carolina; and five grandchildren, Kaitlin Greenland and her husband, Brad, Erin Chute and her fiancé, Alex Wright, Megan Chute, Kyle Cappuccio, and Justin Cappuccio.
She was predeceased by her siblings, Patricia Marsh, Michael Gallagher, and John Gallagher.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 22, at 10:30 A.M. at St. Luke the Evangelist Church, 70 West Main St., Westborough. Burial will follow in St. Luke’s Cemetery.
A calling hour will precede the Mass from 9 to 10 A.M. at the Pickering & Son Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., Westborough.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Maureen’s memory may be made to Boston Children’s Hospital.
