WESTBOROUGH

H. Michael Abladian, 82, longtime resident of Westborough Mass.; passed away peacefully with his family by his side on April 13th, 2023.  Michael was born in Worcester mass on May 16, 1940, to the late Harry and Varsenig (Vetzikian) Abladian.  Sadly, Michael’s father passed when he was two and he was lovingly raised by his mother.  Michael lived until his teen years in Worcester, in the Main South area, later moving briefly to West Boyleston, where he was the first class to graduate from the newly constructed West Boyleston high school.  After high school Michael enlisted in the Air Force National Guard, serving for several years, earning his pilot’s license in 1966.  Michael went on to receive bachelor’s degrees from Worcester Jr. College and St. Louis University, as well as earning a master’s in management from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.  While living in Missouri he met his future wife Susan (Schrader) Abladian whom he married in 1966.  The couple eventually settled back in his home state of Massachusetts, where they raised their two children.  Michael had a great love for the city of Worcester and spent much time visiting and enjoying its landmarks, parks, and museums with his children and grandchildren.

Michael spent most of his career working for Raytheon, starting in 1969, before retiring in 2003 after 35 years, having achieved the title of principal engineer.  He was very proud of the work he did on the systems and projects during his tenure.  Upon his retirement he took up several hobbies including cooking, learning new languages, and gardening, he took great pride in maintaining his yard and vegetable garden.  He and Susan were avid travelers and enjoyed exploring the globe.  Michael was a longtime volunteer serving on the board of directors for First night Worcester and was a longstanding member of the Morning Star AF&AM masonic lodge. He enjoyed spending as much time as possible with his children and grandchildren whom he cherished.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Susan (Schrader) Abladian and his two children Lewis Abladian and his wife Kathleen of Londonderry, NH and his daughter Laura Tremblay and her husband Joseph of Holden. He leaves six grandchildren Bennett, Sarah, and Abigail Abladian and Tyler, Lily, and Evan Tremblay.  In addition, he is survived by his sister Michele Fashjian and her husband John of Framingham and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be private, in lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to the Armenian Missionary Association of America (AMAA), 31 W. Century Rd., Paramus, NJ 07652 (www.amaa.org)
