Michael Joseph DePalo, 74, of Northborough, MA, passed away peacefully at Rose Monahan Hospice on October 27, 2026. He was a beloved father, brother, and friend who will be dearly missed. He was born in New York City to Anna and Joseph DePalo and grew up in Herkimer, NY with his parents and four sisters.
He received a bachelor's degree at Syracuse University and moved to Massachusetts where he grew his family and career. He worked primarily as a supply chain manager in the technology industry. His work occasionally led to international travel, which he recounted fondly.
However, his true passions were outside of the office. He was a loving father to two children, Danielle DePalo and Joseph DePalo, who were the center of his universe.
He was known amongst family, friends, and neighbors as the person to call when you needed a hand. He always loved a project, whether that meant building something in the basement, caring for his yard and garden, or fixing up his cars. Outside of his home, the coast of Maine was his favorite place.
He had a big heart and gave generously. He spent countless hours finding the perfect Christmas present for everyone in his life. Despite his illness, one of his last wishes was ensuring every trick-or-treater receive a full-sized candy bar at his home on Halloween.
He grew to be an animal lover over the years and, despite his insistence that he didn’t like cats, leaves behind his beloved cat, Charlie, and multiple grandcats who he adored. He loved watching all the wildlife in his backyard and meeting dogs out for a walk, especially golden retrievers.
He joins his parents, Anna and Joseph DePalo, his sister, Marie Glaser, and his nephew, Paul Savas. He is survived by his children, his sisters, Phyllis DePalo, JoAnn Savas, and Linda Loudon, his nieces and nephews, John and Matt Glaser, Cristy Szachta, Amanda Yesensky, Nicholas Savas, Alyssa Walton, and Joseph Loudon, brothers-in-law Tom Glaser, Greg Savas, and Steven Loudon, as well as lifelong friend Bill Stack. He also leaves behind numerous grandnieces and grandnephews. Though not related in blood, he formed a close friendship with his neighbor Lorraine Cain, her daughter Regis, and grandson Conall, who became his local family.
A calling hour to honor Michael will be held on Saturday, November 14, from 12 Noon to 1 P.M. in the Pickering & Son Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main Street, Westborough. A celebration of life luncheon will follow, with details announced during the calling hour.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or Boston Children’s Hospital, causes that he deeply supported.
