Norman L. Beland, age 85, of Westborough, MA died in UMASS Marlborough Hospital after many years of failing health. Born in Worcester, he was the son of the late Henry P. and Eva M. (Launier) Beland. He graduated from Clark University with a degree in psychology and was a teacher at the Fay School in Southborough for 3 years, followed by Marlborough High school for 17 years, until his retirement. As well as owning a Real Estate company, he invested in apartments, converting them into condominiums.
He leaves his wife of 56 years, Mary F. (Eaton) Beland of Westborough; and a brother, Richard P. Beland and his girlfriend, Joyce Larivee of Worcester; a niece, Tammy Beland, of Southbridge, Ma., and two nephews, Jaime Dowd of R.I. and Christopher Dowd, of Millville, Ma.
He was a member of St Luke, The Evangelist Church in Westborough. He supported many local charities during his lifetime and served on the board of directors of the Marlborough Boy’s Club and the Marlborough Office for Children.
He enjoyed photography, dining out, landscaping, sightseeing in the countryside and spending time with family and friends on Cape Cod, Vermont, and New Hampshire.
Calling hours at Pickering and Son Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main Street, Westborough, MA, will be on Sunday June 30, from 2-4 PM.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Norman’s funeral Mass on Monday, July 1st at 10:30 A.M. in St. Luke The Evangelist Church, 70 West Main Street, Westborough MA. Burial will follow in St. Luke’s Cemetery.
