Randy D. Dadah

Randy D. Dadah, 83, of Westborough, MA, was a man who wore many hats. As a child he had three routes delivering newspapers, worked at Dadah’s Market in Worcester, and worked as a clerk at the Triple S stamp store, before going on to Worcester Junior College, where he earned an Associate’s Degree in Civil Engineering.

In 1964, he went to Bradford Durfee College of Technology, later called the Southeastern Massachusetts Technological Institute (SMTI), which is now known as UMass Dartmouth, where he met Susan (Silva) and married her on August 26, 1965.

Shortly thereafter, he enlisted in the Army, and in December 1966 received orders for Viet Nam. On his way to Viet Nam, he was diverted to Korea and served in the Korean DMZ Conflict in a specialized Ranger unit, where he earned his Buck Sergeant stripes in two years. During that time, he acquired the informal title of Sgt. Dad by both enlisted troops and superior officers.

Upon his discharge, he became a civil engineer, later moving on to work at the US Post Office in Northborough, eventually becoming a Rural Carrier. However, that was but one of the many hats he wore there. He was the team leader of the QWL work team, and a Master Field Trainer, where he developed and implemented a Rural Carriers training program that started in MA, and was adopted nationally. He was President of the District 4 Rural Letter Carriers’ Association for 6 years and increased the monetary reserves there by 700%. He was also an instructor at the Rural Carriers’ Academy, union steward, and involved in all aspects of rural carriers’ safety.

After retirement from the Postal service, Randy went on to manage multiple retail stores for Leslie Pool company, and earned recognition as Rookie of the Year in his 70’s.

During all this time, Randy regularly took his family camping, starting out in a tent, then traveling to Disney World with a used tent trailer, in which a bird built a nest in the folds of the canvas.

And lastly, there was the Ogunquit Beach canopy, to share with his best beach buddy, his wife Susan.

Surviving alongside his beloved wife Susan of 61 years, are his devoted children Kimberly Dadah and Dave Dadah, and caring niece Lauri Yusko.

Randy was predeceased by his parents Miriam Dadah (Bilodeau) and Francis Dadah, as well as brother Bruce Dadah and sister Lynn Nantz, all of Florida.

A graveside ceremony will be held on Saturday, July 25, at 10:00 A.M. in the Veterans Grove Section of Pine Grove Cemetery, South Street, Westborough.
