Robert A. Macconnell

Westborough

Robert A. MacConnell, 81, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 after a brief illness. He was the husband of Christina M. (Haven) MacConnell.

Born in Marlborough, he was the son of the late Alexander and Bernice (Thorpe) MacConnell. He was educated in Westborough schools and was a 1953 graduate of Westborough High School. He also attended Worcester Trade School.

Bob was employed as a cabinet and furniture maker for Gothic Craft, where he built and installed church furniture and did restoration work including the Old North Church in Boston. He also worked for Innovations in Shrewsbury retiring in 1996.

Bob was a member of The Congregational Church of Westborough and a life member of the Southborough Rod and Gun Club. He enjoyed hunting, especially in New Brunswick, fishing, boat building and antique boats. He mostly enjoyed spending time at the lake in Barnstead, NH with his family.

In addition to his wife he is survived by three sons, Dale R. MacConnell and his wife, Alice, of Westborough, Dean E. MacConnell and his wife, Suzann, of Boylston and Darrin C. MacConnell and his wife, Linda, of Boylston. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Andrew, Jessica, Alex, Craig, Amber and Nathan.

He was the brother of the late Alfred MacConnell.

His funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 26, at 11:00 A.M. in The Congregational Church of Westborough, 57 West Main St., Westborough. Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery will be private.

Calling hours at the David A. Pickering Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., Westborough, are Monday, January 25, from 4-7 P.M.
