Obituary

Cynthia D. Cote, 62, of Sutton passed away peacefully at home on January 27, 2023 surrounded by her family, surrounded by love. She leaves her husband, Dennis Cote; three children, Sarah Ellis and her husband Ben Ellis, Melissa Cote, and Michael Cote; two grandchildren, Theodore and Juliette Ellis; a sister Elizabeth Sedlins and her husband John Sedlins; a brother, Jonathan Duce and his wife Linda Duce; a sister-in-law Janice Laptewicz and her husband Robert Laptewicz; five nephews, Ben Sedlins, Andrew Sedlins, Mica Duce, Robert Laptewicz Jr. and Peter Laptewicz; and her dog Lucy (Gooster). She was predeceased by her parents, Diane and Benjamin Duce, and her aunt, Suzanne Sherwood.

Cindy was born on November 6, 1960 in Marlboro MA. When she was five years old, she moved to Sweden with her family where they lived for two and a half years. As a young girl she was exposed to other cultures as the family explored Scandinavia and ventured to England. She graduated from Westborough High School in 1978 and Becker Junior College in 1980. On May 26, 1984 she married Dennis Cote. She held various administrative positions in healthcare, but her primary job was being a mom. She was very involved in her children’s lives, from PTO president to Girl Scout Troop Leader, and chaperoning every field trip she could. Additionally, Cindy loved her church, St. John’s Episcopal in Sutton, where she served as both a vestry member and clerk.

After her children were grown, she spent her time planning and executing trips that she and Dennis could enjoy together: Italy, Austria, Ireland, France, Sweden, Norway, Netherlands, Australia, England, and Saint Lucia. She loved learning about the history of the places she visited and could often be found with her nose in a historical fiction or a Rick Steves travel book. She created beautiful photo journals of these trips.

A funeral service will be held at Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church 61 Wood St, Hopkinton February 18, 2023 at 11:00am.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations made to Dana Farber Cancer Research.
