Elizabeth Gendron Obituary

Elizabeth A. “Betty” (Sullivan) Gendron of Westboro passed away peacefully at her home, with her loving family by her side on January 3, 2021. She was born in Worcester, MA on May 9, 1931, and was raised by her loving Grandmother.  At a very young age she developed a strong independent mind and the skills and determination to always be able to take care of herself, and the people she loved. She had a tremendous sense of humor her entire life. Her inner strength, determination and her passion to be a survivor, helped her cope with the difficult challenges she faced during her life.  Betty had two overwhelming passions which filled her heart and soul with great joy and happiness. The first was her love and bond with ALL of the wonderful dogs she raised. Each one was truly a soulmate. Her second passion was being the world’s VERY best shopper. Her shopping skills were second to none. She never sacrificed quality, and always found the best bargains on earth.

She was the devoted wife of the late Robert A. Gendron, whom she married in 1956, and was the loving and proud mother of two children.  She leaves behind her son, Robert M. Gendron (wife Sue), and her daughter & best friend Nancy E. Gendron. In addition to her two children, Betty leaves behind Joy Sweeney, her special “adopted” daughter; Valentina Proctor, her caretaker and friend of many years; Romeo, her devoted canine companion; three grandchildren, Erin, Jason and Laurie; and two great grandchildren, Trenton and Bryce.  She was predeceased by her life- long friend, Helen Kidder, in 2014.

Betty had a timeless saying that always gave her strength, courage and happiness. “Nothing stays the same, good or bad”. She shared that saying with everyone lucky enough to have known her. Betty was an incredibly wise woman, and as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside.

Memorial services will be private and will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in her memory to either St Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org), to JHC Hospice, 629 Salisbury St., Worcester, MA 01609, or to an animal rescue organization of your choice.
