January 27, 1934 ~ December 25, 2021 (age 87)

Gerald I. Singer died peacefully on Saturday, December 25, 2021, after a period of declining health. He was predeceased by his wife of 54 years Suzanne (Sanguinet) Singer with whom he is now reunited. He is the son of the late Bertha Allard Singer McKeon and Francis B McKeon. He lived in Westborough since 1963, was a member of the church of St. Luke the Evangelist, and for the past seven years enjoyed living at The Highlands Retirement Community.

He also leaves nine grandchildren: Gerald, Christopher, Ian, Maxwell, Rachel, Nicholas, Keith, Marc, and Kimberly.

Gerald attended St. John’s High School and Northeastern University. He was a gifted mechanical-plastics engineer who spent most of his career at Polaroid Corp.  During his tenure at Polaroid, he was proud to be involved in the development of the optical components and systems for the iconic SX-70, the world’s first instant film camera. In 1981 he embarked on a successful second career when he established his own consulting firm, Optec Engineering.  He was interested in military history, was an avid collector of antiques and antique telephones, and had a passion for classic cars and fly fishing, all interests he passed on to his children and grandchildren.
