Gertrude Hummel

Gertrude Hummel, 95, of Westborough, MA passed away peacefully on October 21, 2021.  She was the devoted wife to her late husband, William Hummel for 42 years before his passing.  Born in Syracuse, NY, she was the daughter of the late Angelo and Mary Embesi.    She lived in Westborough for the past 50 years.  

She was the loving mother of her “My Three Sons”, Mark Hummel (predeceased) of Clayton, NY, Stephen Hummel of Westborough, and Patrick Hummel of Marlborough.  She was beloved “Gigi” to her grandchildren, Maureen (Hummel) Willette and her husband Dennis, of Manhattan, NY, Grace Hummel of Charleston, SC, Nicholas Hummel of Hilo, HI, Timothy Hummel of Westborough, and a great grandson, Mark Harrison Willette. 

Gertrude was employed as a secretary for many years with her last 25 years at Digital Equipment Corp. before her retirement.   She was the matriarch of the family who flawlessly hosted many family holiday gatherings.  She was truly a great cook and enjoyed traveling with her husband and her sister Carmella.   She followed her grandchildren’s activities and accomplishments with great interest and pride.   She was universally regarded as very sweet and very petite.  As one of her grandchildren said upon learning of her passing, “You know Gigi’s definitely going to heaven…”
