Joan M. Gionfriddo

Joan M. Gionfriddo, 86, of Westborough, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at the Coleman House in Northborough.  She is the beloved wife of 61 years to Maurice P. Gionfriddo.

Born in Allston, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Irene (Smith) Powers.  She was a graduate of the Brighton High School Class of 1949. 

In her earlier years, Joan enjoyed building model airplanes and met Maurice at a model airplane flying field.  They were then married in 1956.  She loved to cook all types of food and enjoyed traveling.  She and Maurice traveled to every Caribbean Island together. 

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her two daughters, Marianne Sullivan and her husband, Thomas, of Waban, MA. and Linda Maio and her husband, Phillip, of Auburn, MA; her two grandchildren, Jessica and Michael Maio, both of Auburn; her twin brother, Charles Powers and his wife, Lorraine, of Long Island, NY: and many nieces and nephews.

Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 17, at 11:00 A.M. in the David A. Pickering Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., Westborough.  Burial will follow in St. Luke’s Cemetery.

A calling hour will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. prior to the service in the funeral home.
