Shirley A. Anderson

Shirley A. Anderson, 81, of Westborough, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 surrounded by her loving family at the UMass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus in Worcester. She was the wife of John W. Anderson, Jr., with whom she recently celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary.

Born in Westborough, she was the daughter of the late Edison and Edith (Rich) Enman.  She was a 1952 graduate of Westborough High School and a member of the First United Methodist Church. 

In addition to being a homemaker, Shirley was a sales representative for Sears in Westborough for 17 years.  She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, who was dedicated to her family. She loved to travel and enjoyed adventures to Europe and Prince Edward Island. 

In addition to her devoted husband, she is survived by two daughters, Valerie L. Anderson and her husband, Owen Weagle, of Spencer, and Karen A. Shaffert and her husband, Rod, of Westborough; one son, John D. Anderson of Marlborough; one brother, Richard Enman of Westborough; one sister, Lillian Abruzzise of Worcester and one granddaughter, Kathryn Hope Shaffert.

She was predeceased by a sister, Barbara Handlin.

A private graveside funeral service will be held at the family’s convenience in Pine Grove Cemetery, Westborough. There are no calling hours.

One of Shirley’s great joys was listening to her granddaughter Katie play the violin as a student at Bancroft School.  In lieu of flowers, a donation in Shirley’s memory can be made to Bancroft School, 110 Shore Drive, Worcester, MA 01605, to support the music program she so loved.
